A growing pipeline
Established in 2003, Agendia has already introduced three tests to the market. Since 2003,
the DiscoverPrint service has been offered to pharmaceutical companies focusing
on the development of cancer therapeutics, enabling them to select the most appropriate candidates
for clinical trials of personalized therapeutics.
In 2004,
Agendia became the first company to commercialize a prognostic test that
predicts the risk of breast cancer recurrence (MammaPrint). The company also
introduced CupPrint, a test to identify the origin of a metastasis when the
location of the primary tumor is unknown, so called “Cancer of Unknown
Primary”.
In 2007, MammaPrint became the first in vitro Diagnostic Multivariate Index Assay
(IVDMIA) to acquire clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Agendia
recently presented its new colon cancer prognosis profile, ColoPrint, which is
currently undergoing further validation in the anticipation of developing a
test to predict the likelihood of the cancer spreading at an early stage in the
disease.
In 2008, Agendia launches its diagnostic test TargetPrint for breast cancer patients,
which allows to obtain highly reliable quantitative data about each patients
breast tumor and adds a secure prognostic tool for future treatment.
Leveraging the benefits of gene expression
profiling
- microarray technology – and collaboration
The leaders
of Agendia are the inventors and initiators of diagnostic microarray testing -
the technology which forms the basis for the company’s commercially available
tests.
Clinically-relevant
tumor gene expression profiles are established through in-house research,
research collaborations and strategic alliances with leading academic
institutes. In particular, Agendia has very close links, both geographically
and collaboratively, with The Netherlands Cancer Institute.
Once
validated, these profiles are used to develop commercially available tests
utilizing the microarray technology. Tests are currently performed in a high quality
clinical laboratory at the company’s headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
A growing business
Agendia working to develop further tests and applications and to
market the current test portfolio globally through direct sales and an
expanding distribution network. Both MammaPrint and CupPrint are CE-marked and
the company is ISO 17025 accredited and CLIA certified.
