– identifying the source
Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) origin is the diagnosis when metastatic cancer is found but the place where the cancer began, the primary site, cannot be determined.
If you have been diagnosed with CUP (Cancer of Unknown Primary) your physician will make every effort to use as many tests as possible to correctly identify the source of your cancer.
Although the success rate of identifying the primary site using conventional procedures is only around 25%, there is strong evidence that a subgroup of CUP patients, if diagnosed correctly, has a good chance of survival.
Identifying the primary tumor site is important because knowing its location and type often helps doctors plan the best treatment. Treatment that is specific to the suspected type of cancer is likely to be more effective.
The CupPrint service has provided conclusive identification of the primary source in up to 90% of all cases so far investigated.
Why not ask your physician about CupPrint? With results available within 10 working days, you can save valuable time and reduce the need for extensive diagnostic procedures.
